If you haven’t figured out what resolutions you want to achieve this year then I’d like to help you out. Here are 15 things that you can try to accomplish for the new year! I’m always striving to be a better person than I was yesterday and I really want to make it a point to create new experiences and have as much fun as I possible. Hopefully you can find something on this list that will motivate you to do something completely out of your element this year!
Clean out your closet and donate clothes you no longer wear. Take a fraction of your paycheck and donate to a cause you hold close to your heart. Donating and giving back is just good karma!
Lets just clear the air. Those little fights and silent treatments will bite you in the a** one day. One thing I learned in my 25 years is that even if you feel that you’re right, for the sake of your relationships, you have to say sorry.
Go do something fun. Take a break from school or work and take a fun trip somewhere with your girlfriends or your boo.
4. Forgiving Yourself
“I have learned, that the person I have to ask for forgiveness from the most is: myself. You must love yourself. You have to forgive yourself, everyday, whenever you remember a shortcoming, a flaw, you have to tell yourself “That’s just fine”. You have to forgive yourself so much, until you don’t even see those things anymore. Because that’s what love is like.” —C. Joybell C.
5. Take a Breather From Social Media
I knew someone who used to do this a lot. And I never understood why. That is, until I did it myself. It’s so refreshing to get away from the clutter that is everyone else’s life and problems. I was able to really center myself and refocus.
6. Leave Your Phone at Home
I haven’t yet done this one. If I’m running a quick errand, and need some space, I’ll leave my phone at home. I have a tendency to get too attached to my devices and it can sometimes cause me anxiety. This is a good habit to practice regular.
7. Try Something New
Eat something you’ve never tried before. Hike up that mountain you never thought you would. Jump out that plane you swore you wouldn’t. Do something completely uncomfortable and unfamiliar.
8. Ask that Crush Out
You’ve got nothing to lose! Tell him you’re feeling him and ask if he wants to grab that drink. Put yourself out there.
Stop holding on to the past. Yeah, that person probably really sucks, and what they did is really sucky but for the sake of you and your growth, forgive them, let go and move on.
10. Spend Time With Your Family
Make sure you get that quality family time in. We take time and family for granted.
12. Get Healthy!
Stop being soda, and potato chips, and cookies. No more junk food! Or at least minimize the junk food intake. Lets eat more fruit and veggies. More water!
13. Make New Friends
Talk to the person you sit next to at work or in class. Get to know someone. You never know how a person can positively impact your life until you say hi.
14. Make a Vision Board
Now, when I say vision board, what I really mean is Pinterest Board! I’m obsessed with mine and pin things all day long. It’s great to go back to and get some motivation or inspiration when its lacking at that moment.
15. Start an Emergency Fund
This too is something I really want to tackle in 2015. An emergency fund is so important to have! You never know when that transmission might blow or that roof might leak!
